A Meal with God
from KGF Church · host kgfchurch
Growing up, how important was family dinner time for you? This daily shared meal means way more than just eating food for nutritional value. It is a chance to gather, share stories and listen, catch up on the day, and remember that we belong to one another. For some, this includes a time of prayer, a short devotional, or a Scripture reading. If you are at the Wagler’s table for Christmas, this looks like lighting a candle and singing a song. If it’s with me at my sister’s, it looks like me trying to joke around so she spits out her drink from her nose. Around the table, we strengthen our fellowship as we remember who we are to one another and enjoy all that God has provided for us. At Mount Sinai, God has been forming Israel into a people who belong to Him. He has given them His covenant words and called them to live according to them. But in Exodus 24, something remarkable happens: Moses, Aaron, and the elders go up the mountain and eat and drink in the presence of God. The covenant is not merely about what God asks His people to do. It is about the relationship He is establishing with them. The holy God makes a way for His people to draw near and fellowship with Him. And this points us forward to Jesus, whose blood establishes the new covenant and brings those who were once far off near to God. Let’s explore this great news together this Sunday.
