A Memory from the Day
from Bunker Basket
Week twenty-two. Something begins tonight that Daddy has been preparing since before the blast door incident. The nurse was right: the texture of the before is what the body receives, not the data. This week the first Memory from the Day: a woman who had taken the day off to regrout her bathroom tiles. The radio changing. A phone making a sound she had never heard it make before. Cold tiles through her jeans. Calling her partner at work. Come home. Just come home. The grout tool left where she put it down. That is as far as she needed to go. The WRCP-18 filters are at thirty-four percent. Activation expected next week. Bunker Basket is a British post-nuclear audio drama and sleep podcast. Post-nuclear Britain, underground survival, nuclear fallout. Adults only.
