A Midnight Proposal (Ruth 3)

Share a commentWhat would drive a woman to propose marriage at midnight? Ruth 3 is not your typical love story—it’s a moment of risk, faith, and divine orchestration. Naomi advises Ruth to approach Boaz privately, asking him to redeem her according to Jewish law. But this wasn’t just about marriage; it was about salvation. In this episode, discover how Ruth’s bold move and Boaz’s honorable response reflect a deeper reality—God’s work of redemption in Christ. Boaz follows God’s law, refusing to cut corners or rush ahead of His plan. Instead, he honors the process, demonstrating the kind of integrity that every believer should emulate.More than a love story, Ruth’s midnight proposal paints a picture of the gospel. Just as Ruth rested in Boaz’s promise, believers rest in Christ’s finished work. Jesus is our Kinsman-Redeemer, the one who does all the work to secure our salvation. Listen in to see how this ancient romance points to the ultimate love story—Christ’s redeeming love for His bride, the church.Stephen Davey's newest book, The Disciples Prayer, is available now. https://www.wisdomonline.org/store/view/the-disciples-prayer-hardbackLearn more about twenty-five years of global impact, and reserve tickets to our gala. https://www.wisdomonline.org/mp/25 Learn more at https://www.wisdomonline.org/Support the show
