A Mission and a Commission

What does it look like to carry a God-given burden into an uncertain and even dangerous situation? In Nehemiah chapter 2, we find a man who had been praying for months, waiting on God's timing, and preparing his heart for a moment he could not fully control. The central lesson here is that faith and preparation are not opposites. Nehemiah did not rush into the king's presence the moment he felt called. We live in a world that prizes speed and instant results, and yet God continually calls us into seasons of patient, prayerful waiting. The story of Nehemiah reminds us that the waiting is not wasted time. It is the very soil in which boldness, clarity, and trust are grown. When we feel the weight of a calling on our hearts, the question is not just whether we are willing to act, but whether we are willing to wait until God says it is time.
