A Moment In The Making
from Faith Revival Podcast Hosted by Faith Revival Center Church of Edmonton
MOMENT: A brief, indefinite interval of time. A specific point — especially the present. What are you doing with your moment?"Time is the inexplicable raw material of everything. With it, all is possible; without it, nothing. You wake up in the morning, and lo! Your purse is magically filled with twenty-four hours of the unmanufactured tissue of the universe of your life! It is yours... No one can take it from you. It cannot be stolen. And no one receives more or less than you. You cannot draw on its future. You cannot waste tomorrow; it is kept for you. You must live on these twenty-four hours... Out of it you must spin health, pleasure, money, content, respect, and the evolution of your immortal soul." — Arnold BennettWe shall never have any more time. We have, and have always had, all the time there is.THE WORLD'S VIEW OF THE MOMENT:In a lifetime, the average American will spend: 6 months sitting at stoplights 8 months opening junk mail 1 year looking for misplaced objects 2 years unsuccessfully returning phone calls 4 years doing housework 5 years waiting in line 6 years eating And the world says:"Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand and melting like a snowflake." — Marie Beyon Ray "Eternity has nothing to do with the hereafter... Heaven is not the place to have the experience; here's the place." — Joseph Campbell "Live life to the fullest." — HemingwayBut the world has no perception of eternity. James 4:14 says life is a vapor. The world lives for the moment. We must live for what the moment is making.2 Corinthians 4:17 — "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory."Your pain is a MOMENT. Your glory is ETERNAL.1. WE SERVE A GOD WHO IS MOMENT-LESS John 8:58 — "Before Abraham was, I AM." Isaiah 57:15 — He inhabits eternity. Psalms 93:2 — Thy throne is established of old. Psalms 102:27 — Thou art the same, thy years have no end. Job 36:26 — The number of his years cannot be searched out. Isaiah 43:13 — Before the day was, I am he.He is a God of RIGHT NOW. He doesn't live in a series of moments — His world is ONE moment. He is momentless! He doesn't view history as a progression of centuries but as a single photo. He captures your entire life — your birth and your burial — in one glance. He knows your beginning and your end because He has neither!2. THE WORLD LIVES FOR THE MOMENT — GOD MAKES THE MOMENT 2 Corinthians 6:1-10 | John 10:10 The world says "seize the moment." God says "I will MAKE the moment." Your light affliction is not wasted — it is working. It is producing. God is using this brief, painful moment to manufacture eternal weight!3. ILLUSTRATION: THE EAGLE RAISED AS A CHICKEN A hunter found an abandoned eagle egg, placed it under a barnyard hen. It hatched with chicks. The eagle grew up scratching for worms, clucking, fluttering a few feet off the ground. An eagle saw him and said, "Fly! You're an eagle, king of birds! You belong to the sky!"He replied, "I can't. I'm a chicken. We belong to the earth."Believing the chickens, he never tried to fly high and died living like a chicken — constrained entirely by how he saw himself.Apostolic Word: Many Christians live like chickens when God made them eagles! Your momentary struggle has made you forget your eternal identity! You were made to soar!4. THE MOMENT IS ABOUT TO TURN INTO ETERNITY 1 Corinthians 15:50-54 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 In a MOMENT, in the twinkling of an eye, the trumpet shall sound! Mortal shall put on immortality! This brief moment of pain, of waiting, of affliction — is making you ready for flight!Final Thought: Don't let a momentary problem make you live like a chicken. God is using this moment to make your eternity.Your moment is in the making. And your making is almost done.#A_Moment_In_The_Making #2Corinthians417 #LightAffliction #EternalWeight #FaithRevivalEdmonton
