A Moment To Pause: Friday 10th July 2026
from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates
You are most welcome to join our reflection today with Pat Hughes from Birkenhead. Good morning and welcome to our morning reflection on this Friday 10th July . Today’s reflection is based on Matthew 10: 16-23 In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit Jesus warns his disciples “I am sending you out like sheep in the midst of wolves” and instructs them to be as “clever as serpents and simple as doves” This passage offers a profound reflection on what it means to live out your faith in the modern world: being as ‘clever as serpents’ means to be spiritually observant, wise and discerning about the motives of the world and ‘simple as doves’ to remain peaceful, pure in our intentions and honest in our mission . If we are ever anxious as to what we are to say we are reassured as “For the words you will speak will not be yours; they will come from the Spirit of your Father” Finally Jesus promises that “ whoever endures to the end will be saved “. What an encouragement for if we become overwhelmed . Lord we thank you for your presence and your promises. Amen Thank you for reflecting with the Oblates today Have a great day
