A Moment To Pause: Tuesday 6th August 2026

from A Moment to Pause - a short daily Christmas reflection · host The Oblates

Welcome to A Moment to Pause. We join Anne Walker from the Friends Of Saint Eugene, Crewe. Good morning. It's Thursday, the 6th of August. The feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord. The Gospel today comes from Matthew chapter 17 1 to 9. Jesus takes Peter, James, and John upper mountain. He was transfigured in front of them. And there they saw either side of him, Moses and Elijah. Peter immediately says to Jesus. This is good. Let me build tents for the three of you. Now, tents or temples are not just to resemble God's glory. There are many shrines built over the holy sites. But what makes the site holy is not the building itself, but the faith of the believers, the community of the people who have gathered there. Let us pray. Lord, we praise you wherever you are, whether it be at our parish church or a holy place. Let us worship you and give thanks for you, for your presence. Amen.
