Good morning and thank you for joining our Oblate short time to pause, reflect and pray together on Wednesday January 21st 2026 of Ordinary Time. Thanks to Mary O'Brien in Dublin for today's reflection: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen. As we begin our day, I thank you for joining our Oblate shared short time to pause, reflect and pray together Today’s gospel is Mark, 3: 1-6 This gospel is another example of Jesus being in conflict with the Pharisees and their rigid laws. When Jesus enters the synagogue he finds a man with a withered hand. The pharisees were watching to see if he would break the law by curing the man on the Sabbath. The gospel includes this text: “Jesus said to them ‘Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save life or to kill?’ But they were silent. He looked around at them with anger; he was grieved at their hardness of heart and said to the man ‘stretch out your hand’ …and his hand was cured” This text shows us that the way of Jesus is about service, doing good, restoring life. Lord, today let everything I do be a prayer to you. Help me to realise that you are always there with me in the mundane tasks and places where I often fail to recognise your presence.
