A Most Violent Year

from RollTheCredits's podcast · host Frank DiSalvo and Zach Johnson

How do you create a mafia film without actually being about the mob? J.C Chandor was able to do so by creating a story about a heating oil company that follows an immigrant and his wife looking to expand their business while keeping competitors at bay. A film with beautiful shots, an interesting story, and well-executed dialogue. There is not much to hate about this film other than the name might not warrant the film itself. Nevertheless, this is definitely a film to check out because when it feels scary to jump, that is exactly when you jump.
