A Move That Saved My Life - Peter Wright

Send us Fan MailPeter and I discuss how he moved from England to Zimbabwe and ended up in Canada. It is a story that has him leaving almost everything behind as the only other choice he had was to run or go to jail where he was certain he’d have died.******Peter Wright spent most of his life in Southern Africa. His corporate career included marketing management in large and small companies.This was followed by establishing and running his own small factory and an export trading business. He traveled extensively in Southern and Central Africa until the civil war in 2 major markets wiped out the export business.Peter then became a farmer in Zimbabwe. In 2002 he became a casualty of the government's illegal and violent policy of driving commercial farmers off their farms, being imprisoned for a short while, then losing the farm and all his assets. He has the unique distinction of losing three properties to political action in one lifetime.Arriving in Canada with 2 suitcases and a horse saddle, Peter survived initially by helping farmers with greenhouse and irrigation work then started in Network and Internet Marketing before expanding into, blogging and writing. In March 2020 he started The Yakking Show video & audio podcast which he now co-hosts with Kathleen Beauvais.Peter had been a horse owner most of his life, played Polo-Crosse and Polo, run marathons and ultra-marathons. He also survived a heart attack in 2010 and bypass surgery in 2017. He was a member, club, and area executive officer of Toastmasters for 8 years.
