A Navajo Investigator's Night of Skinwalkers, Curses, and Coyote Skin

Lee has appeared on the show twice before with Bigfoot and skinwalker stories, and brings an entirely new batch tonight.  •      The episode opens with the story behind an Anastasia, or Anasazi, a cliff-dwelling tribe from the Four Corners region believed by some to be ancestors of the Pueblo people, who vanished abruptly sometime in the 1400s or 1500s and left their homes and pottery behind. Theories range from drought to disease, and Lee notes there are even petroglyphs in the region depicting what look like hovering objects overhead.  •      Lee explains that as a child he didn't know it was forbidden to disturb old Anasazi pottery, and would shoot pieces of it with a BB gun while herding sheep, not realizing the significance until he was told as an adult. The consequences caught up to him in 2019, starting with a black, frozen-still figure standing beside his bed that he initially mistook for a night terror.  •      The haunting escalated over several sleepless nights until Lee woke to a disfigured face hovering inches from his own, and the following day his left side began going numb, eventually leaving him unable to lift his arm or walk normally. Hospital testing, including at a larger city facility, turned up nothing, and Lee was only released once doctors ran out of explanations.  •      Lee's father took him to a medicine man who, without being told any details in advance, correctly described the black figure's height and identified it as an Anastasia disturbed by the shooting years earlier. A temporary remedy bought Lee one good night's sleep before the symptoms hit twice as hard, and it took a full ceremony days later to begin actually resolving it.  •      Weeks after the ceremony, Lee describes a shadow that detached from the wall and followed him to the edge of his bed before dissolving into mist after he spoke to it directly, followed roughly a month later by the sound of laughter behind him. A second visit to the medicine man ended with an actual piece of the exact pottery Lee remembered shooting being pulled from a pile of ashes, after which the presence stopped entirely.  •      Lee also describes a vivid dream from years earlier in which a door swung open to reveal a werewolf-like creature grinning at him, and he woke himself up yelling at it to leave him alone. Not long after, a second waking encounter with glowing, brake-light-red eyes and a doglike silhouette appeared at his living room window late at night, closely mirroring the creature from his dream.  •      The truck story: Lee's brakes locked up on a remote road at night, and while waiting for his sister to bring tools, he kept hearing movement on a nearby hillside that he assumed was livestock. When his sister arrived and the flashlight swept the tree line, she saw a humanoid figure duck behind a tree, and later described it fully: skin hanging from its head, a coyote's hide and arms draped over its shoulders, jewelry, pouches at its waist, and a smile that badly shook her.  •      Rather than run, Lee walked toward the tree line himself, gun raised, and told the entity aloud that it had no power over him and nothing left to scare him with. Something moved off through the brush on what sounded like four legs, and shortly after, Lee realized his sister had somehow gotten directly behind him without him hearing her approach at all.  •      Later that same night, tapping at the kitchen window and the sound of a woman laughing outside continued, capping off one of the most eventful nights Lee has experienced.
