A New God
from The God of Second Chances · host Ron Clark
While Moses and Joshua were gone for 40 days, the people quickly forgot him, Yahweh, and that they had fled slavery. Solution--they build a calf (similar to Anubis--the gold calf god of Egypt) and worship. They failed to see the love and passion of their new God, who wanted relationship and love from those created and freed by the hand of Yahweh. Even more Moses, caught in this "mosh pit" of emotion advocated, then turned against the nation. Yet through this swirl of emotion, betrayal, pain, and anger Yahweh's glory was shown as the God who has always been loving, slow to anger, and passionate. Often I hear people claim that the God of the "Old Testament" or "Hebrew Bible" is an angry God. Listen to this lesson and see if that is true.
