A New Life in London - From Guyana to the UK in the 1960s

Windrush Day falls on 22 June. That's the date in 1948 that 1,027 passengers - over 400 from the Caribbean - began disembarking the former troop ship HMT Empire Windrush docked at the Port of Tilbury in Essex. After the 2018 Windrush Scandal, we wanted to celebrate the British Caribbean community by talking to a man who has given much to both the Church and the community. Lloyd Booker made the long two-week trip by boat from Guyana to London in 1960. Since 1981, Lloyd has served as president and pastoral minister of the Caribbean Catholic Chaplaincy. Listen for more...
