A new marketing week and USDA announces assistance for farmers

USDA announced a $19 bil COVID-19 Farm Aid Package late Friday afternoon. Agriculture has many places to distribute this $19 bil, so much so that many will be left disappointed. In a world where trillions and trillions of support are distributed, this farm aid package is not as exceptional as are the events that are impacting agriculture at this time. Yet, there is no industry that enters each production cycle with more hope and optimism than does agriculture. It is springtime, and that is the birthplace of the spirit of new beginnings, optimism and the hope of a bountiful harvest. When you plant a seed, you can choose to focus on the coolness and darkness surrounding your seed, or you can choose to look upward to the sun and know that its power will not be denied. Now is the time to look upward and to walk in confidence and to be driven by hope. Our job is to place the seed into the darkness, but to place our faith in the power of the sun. The past few weeks have been dark. Our job is to go through such periods, let's not dwell there.
