A pair of moccasins

Today I had a picture of a pair of mocassins, reminding me of the proverb "Don't judge another person until you have walked a mile in their moccasins". Most of us know that this warns us not to negatively judge another's actions and words until we understand the circumstances in their life which have triggered off their responses, as we could easily falter in the same manner. What I did not know until today is that these words are from a poem written in 1895 by Mary T. Lathrap, originally called "Judge Sofly". She was clearly a strong woman of justice because, as well as being a preacher in the Methodist Episcopal church, she was a progressive woman who fought for women's rights and co-founded Michigan's suffrage organisation. God judges fairly so it will be totally fair of Him to judge us in the way we judge others. (Matthew 7: 1-2). Be careful that we have never done and will never do what we are scathing of, as we will be judged for those very things we have chosen to judge. 2 Corinthians 5:9 "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad". However, an all encompassing love note is that Jesus does have the grace to forgive us when we acknowledge our sins to Him.
