A Parent's Adoption Story

Robin Bartko is joining Elisha’s Space to discuss her story of how her family dynamics changed when her son was adopted. Hear her as she tells the joys as well as the challenges of international adoption.  Robin Bartko is the founder and owner of Wellness Girlfriend LLC – an independent firm that provides health education, coaching and promotion. Robin provides in person and online coaching and training to both individuals and groups. She is the founder of two websites, WellnessGirlfriend.com and TheParentRescue.com. Also, she is an author. She truly believes that both good physical and mental health is wealth. Much of Robin’s practical "hands on" background comes from raising her son after adopting him from overseas and from having an adoption support and education web site for many years. Her new son came home with both unexpected physical and emotional challenges. She found herself in unfamiliar territory. His journey is what brought her to the health and wellness field as she found that there was just not enough support and guidance. Robin is very supportive of positive psychology, the power of personal connection, meditation and other stress reducing activities. She is also a big believer in managing emotional health and has been trained in suicide prevention, Mental Health First Aid®, and connecting others with resources. Robin has a master’s degree in Health Promotion from Maryland University of Integrative Health. She is Certified Health Educational Specialist (CHES®) as well as a Certified Health Coach by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York.
