A Personal Reflection on the “Set Man” Leadership System - E046• 2026

In this episode, I share a personal reflection from my own journey in ministry about a leadership philosophy that is common in many churches today, often called the “set man” system. For many years I believed and supported this model, which teaches that just as Moses was set over Israel, God sets one man over the church as the central authority. But as I continued to study the New Testament carefully, I began to see that this structure is not revealed in the apostolic pattern of the church. In this teaching, I explain how this leadership model is often built by borrowing examples from Old Testament figures such as Moses and David, even though these men ultimately served as prophetic shadows pointing to Jesus Christ, not as templates for modern church leadership. We will look at what the New Testament actually reveals about leadership in the church, why the apostles consistently established a plurality of elders rather than a single dominant leader, and why the church must guard against systems that elevate personalities instead of honoring Christ as the true Head of His church. This episode is both a personal testimony and a biblical challenge to return to the simple pattern of leadership revealed in the Scriptures.
