A Photographic Life - 48: Plus Rachel Boillot

In episode 48 UNP founder and curator Grant Scott is in his shed considering the relationship between music and photography, photography as a visual language and the importance of understanding where your work fits within the commissioned landscape if you want to be commissioned. Plus this week photographer Rachel Boillot takes on the challenge of supplying Grant with an audio file no longer than 5 minutes in length in which she answer’s the question ‘What Does Photography Mean to You?’ Rachel Boillot is a photographer, filmmaker, and educator based in Nashville, Tennessee. She holds a BA in Sociology from Tufts University, a BFA in Photography from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University. Her work has been funded by the Annenberg Foundation (Los Angeles, CA), the Riverview Foundation (Chattanooga, TN), the Tennessee Arts Commission (Nashville, TN), and the National Endowment for the Arts (Washington, D.C.). His next book New Ways of Seeing: The Democratic Language of Photography will be published by Bloomsbury Academic in 2019.
