In this edition of The Way Out, I’m at once extremely humbled and grateful to bring you my interview with person in long term recovery and bonified poet, Melissa DeJesus. Melissa shares her journey to and through recovery to this point with us, a journey in which Melissa endures enough Capitol T Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACES, and loss for multiple lifetimes. Carl Jung once said “No Tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless it’s roots reach down to hell” and Gabor Mate is credited with coining the phrase “Ask, not why the addiction, but why the pain” two quotes that are quite apropos for many of us and certainly no more so than with Melissa.
