For this special Mother’s Day message, Pastor Deric preached from 1 Samuel 2:1–11 in a sermon titled “A Praying Mother.”  Through Hannah’s prayer of praise, we were reminded that true strength and hope are found in the Lord alone. After years of grief, barrenness, and provocation, Hannah cried out to God in deep anguish, trusting Him to hear and answer according to His will. When the Lord graciously gave her a son, she responded not with self-exaltation, but with worship, dedicating Samuel back to the Lord and rejoicing in His salvation, holiness, and sovereign power.  This passage shows us that godly motherhood is shaped by dependence upon God and confidence in His character. Hannah’s prayer magnifies the Lord as the One who humbles the proud, exalts the lowly, guards His people, and rules over all creation with perfect wisdom and justice.
