A Praying Mother | Deric Bartlett | 2026-05-10
For this special Mother’s Day message, Pastor Deric preached from 1 Samuel 2:1–11 in a sermon titled “A Praying Mother.” Through Hannah’s prayer of praise, we were reminded that true strength and hope are found in the Lord alone. After years of grief, barrenness, and provocation, Hannah cried out to God in deep anguish, trusting Him to hear and answer according to His will. When the Lord graciously gave her a son, she responded not with self-exaltation, but with worship, dedicating Samuel back to the Lord and rejoicing in His salvation, holiness, and sovereign power. This passage shows us that godly motherhood is shaped by dependence upon God and confidence in His character. Hannah’s prayer magnifies the Lord as the One who humbles the proud, exalts the lowly, guards His people, and rules over all creation with perfect wisdom and justice. Her example calls us to trust God faithfully in seasons of suffering, to worship Him for His mercy and provision, and to live with courageous faith that points others to His greatness and glory. Sermon Notes: We need praying mothers (v. 1)We need worshipping mothers (vv. 1–3)We need godly mothers (vv. 4–8)We need courageous mothers (vv. 9–10)

As we seek those who walk in humility, righteousness, and peace, we grow together in a way that bears lasting fruit for the glory of God. On Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from James 3:13–18 in a message titled, “Secrets, Scars, and Scandals.” We were reminded that true wisdom is not merely what we say, but how we live. Marked by humility and good conduct, wisdom from above reflects a heart transformed by God, while earthly wisdom, driven by jealousy and selfish ambition, leads to disorder and destruction. This passage calls us to examine our hearts honestly, to confront the sin that can quietly take root within, and to seek the wisdom that comes from God alone. As we grow in purity, peace, and humility, we become instruments of righteousness, bearing fruit that reflects the character of Christ in His people. Sermon Notes: 1. Love One Another | Deric Bartlett | 04-12-2026
This past Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from John 13:34–35 in a message titled “Love One Another.” Through Jesus’ command to His disciples, we were reminded that love is not merely an emotion, but the defining mark of those who belong to Christ. As He calls us to love one another just as He has loved us, we see that this kind of love is rooted in His sacrificial work and flows from a life that abides in Him. This passage shows us that true, Christlike love is produced by the work of the Spirit, shaped by our union with Jesus, and expressed in the way we care for one another. It is through this love that the world is given a visible witness of the gospel and the transforming power of Christ in His people. We are called to abide in Christ, to walk in step with the Spirit, and to love one another in a way that reflects the love we have first received in Him. Sermon Notes: 1. Loving one another is a dominant strategy of the Kingdom (Jn 13:33–34)2. Loving one another is a reflection of abiding in Jesus (Jn 14–15)3. Living one another is manufactured by the Spirit (Jn 16:13–15)4. Loving one another produces a great witness for Jesus (Jn 13:35; 17:23; 1Jn 4:13)

I Have Seen the Lord | Deric Bartlett | 04-05-2026
On Easter Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from John 19–20 focusing on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the call to believe. Through the account of the empty tomb and the appearances of the risen Christ, we were reminded that the resurrection is not only a historical reality, but the foundation of our faith. From Mary’s initial grief, to the disciples’ fear, to Thomas’ doubt, we see how easily we can misunderstand, overlook, or resist what God has clearly revealed. The resurrection declares that Christ has conquered sin and death, and that through Him we are offered forgiveness, new life, and peace with God. This passage calls us to look beyond our circumstances, to see Christ rightly, and to respond in faith to the risen Savior, trusting in His finished work and living in the life He has secured for us.

An Impossible Confession | Bryan Lee | 04-03-2026
On Good Friday, Pastor Bryan preached from Mark 15:39 in a message centred on the confession of the centurion at the cross. Through the account of the crucifixion, we were reminded that the clearest revelation of Jesus’ identity is seen not in displays of power, but in His suffering and death. As the centurion witnessed the way Jesus died, he declared, “Truly this man was the Son of God,” revealing that even in the most unlikely moment, Christ’s true identity was made known. The confession of the centurion reminds us that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace, and that salvation comes not by works, but by faith in the Son of God. We are called to look to the cross, to see Christ rightly, and to respond in faith to the One who gave Himself for us.

Jesus or Barabbas | Deric Bartlett | 03-29-2026
This past Sunday, Pastor Deric Bartlett preached from Matthew 27:15–26 in a message titled “Jesus or Barabbas.” Through the account of Jesus before Pilate, we were reminded of the striking contrast between the innocent Christ and the guilty Barabbas. As the crowd cries out and chooses according to their own desires, Jesus is rejected and condemned, though He alone is righteous. Yet in this exchange, we see a clear picture of the gospel. The guilty is released, and the innocent is handed over to suffer, all according to the sovereign plan of God. What appears to be injustice becomes the means by which redemption is accomplished. This passage not only reveals the blindness of the crowd, but also confronts each of us with the same question: who will we choose? Sermon Notes: The Historical Context – Jesus Before RomeThe Religious Context – Jesus Before ReligionThe Public Context – Jesus Before the Angry MobThe Individual Context – Jesus or Barabbas

His Gethsemane and Ours | Deric Bartlett | 03-22-2026
This past Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from Matthew 26:36–46 in a message titled “His Gethsemane and Ours.”Through the account of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane, we were reminded that Christ willingly entered into deep sorrow and submission to the Father’s will, preparing to accomplish the work of redemption through the cross. In His suffering, we see both the weight of what He would bear and the perfect obedience that would secure our salvation. As Jesus prays, wrestles, and ultimately submits, we are shown that the path of following Him includes dependence on the Father, persistence in prayer, and surrender to God’s will, even in the hardest moments.Sermon Notes:We need a Gethsemane because the hard stuff is the good stuff (vv. 36–38)We need a Gethsemane because it is where fellowship is deepened (v. 36ff)We need a Gethsemane because prayer is our greatest asset (vv. 39, 42, 44)We need a Gethsemane because it is where we learn surrender (vv. 39, 42, 44)

His mission included both exaltation and suffering, according to the sovereign plan of God. Sermon Notes: 1. The Unveiled Glory (Mark 9:2–8)2. The Necessary Grief (Mark 9:9–13)

This past Sunday, Pastor Bryan preached from Mark 8:22–33 in a message titled “The Procedure of Clarity.” Through the healing of the blind man at Bethsaida and Peter’s confession of Christ, we were reminded that spiritual understanding often moves from confusion to clarity through the gracious work of Jesus. As He reveals both His identity and His coming suffering, we are called to see Christ rightly and to submit our understanding to the purposes of God rather than the expectations of man. Sermon Notes: 1. A Spiritual Blur (Mark 8:22–24; Mark 8:27–30)2. A Divine Vision (Mark 8:25–26; Mark 8:31–33)

God Loves a Cheerful Giver | Deric Bartlett | 03-01-2026
On this Sunday, Pastor Deric preached from 2 Corinthians 9:7, “God Loves a Cheerful Giver.” We were reminded that biblical generosity flows from a heart shaped by grace, not pressure or compulsion. A cheerful giver is motivated by love for Christ, exercises wisdom in stewardship, rests in the blessing of obedience, and walks in faithfulness before the Lord. Because God has given us His indescribable gift in Christ, our giving becomes a joyful response to His grace. True generosity is not measured merely by amount, but by a heart transformed by the gospel. Sermon Notes:1. A cheerful giver is a motivated giver2. A cheerful giver is a wise giver3. A cheerful giver is a blessed giver4. A cheerful giver is a faithful giver “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15)
