As America celebrated our 250th birthday with “Pomp and Parade,” Carly Fiorina asked a question that speaks to our nation’s future: “Do we still have what it takes?” America is unique in that it was not founded on ethnicity, territory, or religion, but on the idea that “all men are created equal.” Yet while we embrace that principle, we struggle to live it out because it requires a degree of selfless love that humans cannot produce on our own.
