A Quick History of U.S and Cuban relations

President Obama's announcement on December 17th that the U.S and Cuba would begin to normalize relations sparked hope for a lot of Cubans both in Cuba and the U.S. Yet, it is difficult to understand the importance of such an announcement without knowing the history of the relationship between the two nations. We begin exploring this relationship by looking back all the way to when Columbus first arrived to the Americas and catching us up to the present.
