A Quiet Life and a Gentle Weeping

Sometimes we skip passages of Scripture because they  make us feel uncomfortable. Other times, we skip them because we deem them less important. So often, in glancing over such passages, we abandon the beautiful riches of God's Word to us. Genesis 35:8 is one such passage, as we are confronted by the beauty of a quiet life that leaves a gaping void in the heart of Jacob. The life of Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, leads us into deeper thanks for the people in our lives that are there for us through better and worse. Likewise, it challenges us to be a Deborah-like figure for others.
