A recording about new Iowa history from last week...

Our Monday Zoom guest last week was Jeff Bremer, who is on a tour promoting his book titled “A New History of Iowa.” As is typical of these sessions, the participating audience asks good questions and offers thoughtful comments. I don’t believe there is anything quite like what we are doing with this Substack platform happening anywhere else- using the Substack podcast feature with Zoom to interview then upload the program to a general audience via Spotify, Apple Podcast, and other services. Our readers are smart and engaged folks, and they have about as much to do with the content we create in these calls as anyone. Typically, we have from 20-40 on the call, then another 3000+ view the column, leading to an additional several hundred who listen to the podcast. And, we are growing, thanks to those of you who share with others this opportunity exists. My guest today, Monday December 11, will be Dave Busiek. He is a member of the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative who now covers local media—an industry he once was a part of during his long career with KCCI-TV.
