A resting butterfly

We see butterflies settle with their two wings upright and together but also, apparently, they can pull them down vertically along their back as a form of camouflage (interestingly as an aside, in contrast to many moths which keep their wings horizontal). I liken these images of butterflies to God's promises to us - sometime, like wings outstretched, we can see the promises; other times we are aware of the pending promises such as with the settled butterfly but wings still visible and thirdly, the long awaited as yet unseen fulfilment of a promise. We had an example yesterday of this with the prophetic word hundreds of years before Jesus was born of eternal kingship. We don't need to lose hope in any of God's promises.
