A Saintly Edition of RRR # 1,253 July 21, 2024

from Rapidly Rotating Records · host Glenn Robison

Phil Baker Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s. Do you know who this fellow is? I’m going to guess you don’t, so I’ll tell you! He’s accordionist and actor Phil Baker. This is a movie still from the 1943 picture “The Gang’s All Here.” You’ll hear one of Phil’s accordion recordings in the first segment of the show, and you’ll hear much more from and about Phil Baker when he gets his own birthday segment on the September 1 show. On this week’s show we’ll have a vocabulary lesson and celebrate the birthdays of Dorothy Fields and Will S. Hays. We’ll also express some doubts and hear some songs about Henry Ford. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience. THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
