Fasting is an act of humility and submission unto the Lord God Almighty. The world uses food abstinence for various reasons: a means of healing, a protest against mistreatment, weight loss, etc. However, to the sincere and faithful believer in Jesus Christ, it is a means of humbling the soul and will before our God. Sin entered the human race by disobeying and rebelling against God through eating that which was forbidden. In fasting we abstain from eating and we only partake of that which is permitted. God has given other guidelines as well. These statues declare what God desires from His people, and the fast that is acceptable to Him. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
