A ship's wake

Today, in my mind's eye, I saw a wake, the disturbed water behind a boat or ship as it sails along. As we go forward in life with our actions and interactions, do we consider the impacts and effects that we leave behind? The best guide for us is the Holy Spirit living in us, His advice contrary to what our flesh wants. "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other" (Galatians 5:25). "Be very careful then how you live, not as unwise but wise" (Ephesians 5:15). Let us carefully consider the steps we make in life so that the wake, the trail behind us brings the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self control.
