A Spaniard's Pride

Originally Aired: November 16, 1938The Lone Ranger #906, "A Spaniard's Pride," the masked rider investigates a horse theft operation at the Rancho Sanchez, owned by the proud Don Diego. When valuable horses begin disappearing from the hacienda, Don Diego sends his men to guard the borders of his property, assigning his son Antonio to watch the northern boundary near Gringo territory. The Lone Ranger and Tonto discover that Antonio is reluctantly helping outlaw Dirk Spade and his gang steal his own father's horses. The young man has been forced into this betrayal because he secretly married Molly Gardner while away at school in the East, and Dirk is using this secret as blackmail, knowing that the proud Don Diego's hatred of Yankees would lead him to disown his son if the truth were revealed.Torn between loyalty to his father and fear of exposure, Antonio allows another raid to take place. As the thefts continue and tracks leading north are discovered, Antonio faces an agonizing decision about whether to confess the truth to his father. The Lone Ranger must find a way to resolve this dangerous situation and bridge the divide between the proud Spaniard and the honest men from the north.
