A special new year’s wish to send

A special new year’s wish I want to send I’m sitting home, still alone and there’s a chill in the air Summer’s a memory, Autumn’s gone, the trees are bare The first taste of snow is making itself known to me again Year’s about over, here’s a special new year’s wish I want to send Let there be no more days without your face Loneliness is gone without even a trace Let the sun shine in on a smiling, happy pair Aging birds acting like young-ins, let ‘em stare I’m not gonna worry about anything but you Too many lost days, we’ve got lots to do I’m sitting home, still alone and there’s a chill in the air Summer’s a memory, Autumn’s gone, the trees are bare The first taste of snow is making itself known to me again Year’s about over, here’s a special new year’s wish I want to send Let there be no more rockets aimed at taking innocent lives War is over! Let the kids play, the husbands hold their wives Each enjoying their time together, living without constant fear No more bombing the schools, give them a reason to cheer Power restored not only to homes but to those with better clarity Remove the crazed Russian bear, promote peaceful prosperity I’m sitting home, still alone and there’s a chill in the air Summer’s a memory, Autumn’s gone, the trees are bare The first taste of snow is making itself known to me again Year’s about over, here’s a special new year’s wish I want to send Let there be no more saber rattling here in our beloved states Profits over warming, bankers are the ones  controlling our fates Burn the ozone, deplete the fish, soil the air fossil fuel emissions We need to wake up and act now so we can improve our conditions Left or right makes no difference when the temperatures get too high I just want to breathe clean air and bask under a clear blue sky I’m sitting home, still alone and there’s a chill in the air Summer’s a memory, Autumn’s gone, the trees are bare The first taste of snow is making itself known to me again Year’s about over, here’s a special new year’s wish I want to send Stop wishing for the world to change, get up and do something about it Don’t just discuss it in hushed tones, hit the streets and go shout it No more loneliness, my heart aches for love, oh I need it so No more war, leave your weapons lay it’s way past time you go No more killing Mother Earth, let’s save her and enjoy her forever That’s my list of new year’s wishes, I think it’s my greatest endeavor I’m sitting here and thinking of all of you reading this now From India, to Germany, to Australia and I just think wow! If I can get you all to join me in saving the sky, earth and fishes If all of us found love, we stopped fighting I’d get all my wishes Yeah the wars would finally end, people would smile and say hello To those they passed on the street, breathing in freedom and clean air Because no matter what country you live in, I believe you really care Like me, you want love; like me you love peace and want war to end I think my list mirrors yours, we all have a special new year’s wish to send Tim Windisch 12/09/2022
