Before I was born, my parents met and discovered that a little T3 was on the way. My father’s plan was simple. As soon as I could carry my own weight, my mother, my older brother, and I would leave the modern world behind and head into the Bob Marshall Wilderness to homestead, stepping away from the rat race and the web of falsehoods that steals our time and energy in service of hollow pursuits.Everything changed on a cold night in January, under the full moon. My grandfather called it the Moon of Purification. Before parting ways, he told my father that one day a son would be born, and that on the first Moon of Purification, my father was to bring his child with him at just four months old, honoring a sacred promise.
