A Storm is Coming - Building a Business to Last & Investing for the Long Term

Welcome back everybody to the AJ Osborne Podcast!    We’re living in some pretty interesting times - inflation, rising interest rates, social and political friction, volatile markets here in the US and globally, all coming off the back end of a long economic cycle of nothing but massive prosperity.    What does this mean for our businesses and our investments? What should we be doing to help adjust for these rapidly changing times? What does the future look like? These are all great questions and one’s you should be asking.    Truth is, there will always be a storm. Today, tomorrow, you never know exactly when or how the storm will hit or how long it will last. Yes there are some indicators and things we can look out for, but all said and done, these macro level economic drivers are things we have absolutely no control over. Unfortunately so many investors and business owners have banked on these uncontrollable factors playing out. They banked on the market to make them, and that’s a massive risk. We’ve experienced a long run of nothing but sunshine and huge gains, we’re talking 10+ years. The owners and investors who have planned on nothing but sunshine will soon find out the hard way that the sun doesn’t always shine.    No matter what point we’re at in a cycle, no matter the business or the deal - I’m always planning for the storms and I’ll never expect the market to do anything. I want to have as much control over my wealth and financial freedom as possible. I’m sure you want the same thing.    Right now today, I’m buying more deals than I ever have and growing my business faster than I ever have and very little of my decision making has to do with the general markets or economy. A deal is always a deal.
