A Stump, a King and a Kingdom

When life feels like a cut-down tree, Isaiah 11 pictures a green shoot rising from Jesse’s stump. God provides Jesus, the unexpected King filled with His Spirit, who judges rightly and defeats evil by His word rather than physical force. His kingdom has already begun. Through the cross and resurrection, Jesus makes former enemies one people and steadily brings all things under His rule.
