A talk at the table with Sayyida & Joseph

Blind Table Talk  originated as a simple  concept focusing on   being a voice, for the people by the people, that would serve to inform society of the human abilities possessed by those who are blind through the means of interviewing and highlighting various areas of accomplishments and concerns   amongst the BVI community. They wanted to show the world that they are people also who just so  happen to be blind.  Host Joseph Fleeks, otherwise known as the blind  security of the community or jack of all trades, has been totally blind for the past 18 years due to a gunshot wound to the face incurred during a drive by shooting as a teen. With so many other things already stacked against him as a young  African American male, being blind could not be his end to all ends.  His perseverance and hard work resulted in his obtaining a bachelors degree in psychology from The University of Houston. Currently, when he is not fulfilling his duties as the Community Outreach Director for Blind Professionals Network or serving his clients as a Certified Massage Therapist, he enjoys applying his athleticism as a  team player in both the sports of   beep baseball and go ball.  Host Sayyida Victoria, also known as the blind butterfly,sassy Sy or The boss,  has been completely blind for the past 20 years due to a rare condition called Neuro Myalitus Optica .   As a mother of five,she knew that she could not allow this new reality to hinder her success in life. After taking some time to acclimate herself to the necessary adaptations,  She relocated her family from the State of California to Houston, TX where she has resided for the past ten years.   The knowledge she gain by earning an  Associates in Psychology and a Bachelors in Human Resources from The University of Phoenix has  positioned her as The Manager of Education and training for The Houston Lighthouse for the Blind.  She also serves as the Founder and Executive Director of Blind Professionals Network and the Vice President of the Houston Area Visually Impaired Network.  When she is not fulfilling her duties demanded by her many hats, she enjoys traveling, kick boxing, and singing in her local BVI choir. The two of them have taken, what started as an open forum discussion on club house to a now thriving relatable podcast dedicated to empowering, engaging,and connecting the blind and visually impaired community that can be found on all podcast listening platforms.
