all right how you doing my name is Michael Kroos I think you know that this is a daily grateful maybe you didn't know that I'm not sure sometimes I wonder if I know that anyway uh it's late in the day and you know usually have this podcast out in the early morning but I had to get up real early this morning and I just couldn't get moving I don't know why but I finally got moving because I had a doctor's appointment uh 19 miles away from here and you know the stress of getting there and traffic and then the doctor's appointment took forever and this is what I want to talk about because I'm like really grateful about stuff you ever see drugs come out new drugs come out and they say it was tested this is it and all this in order to get a drug on the market it's really hard you just can't decide I'm going to make Michael's weight loss product and have it be a pharmaceutical drug and go start selling at Walgreens no you have to go through millions and millions and millions of dollars worth of testing on this drug and I gotta tell you something I've been really fascinated with lately I guess everybody has is these GLP-1 drugs that are on the market the semaglutides uh the mangero all these things that you take for diabetes but people are using them for weight control they're having remarkable results and I'm saying I want me some of that but I'm not you know wanting me some of that my insurance don't pay for it so if I want me some mangero or anything you know I won't pay anywhere from 900 to 1400 dollars a month and these big Hollywood movie stars they can afford that but I can't afford that so anyway amazing my surprise one day when I'm on Facebook and I see an ad a Facebook ad for a study for a new GLP medication as well and you know and you get this stuff for free I said oh I like that so I filled out the little thing next thing you know people are calling me next thing you know they're emailing me and so today I went up there and had an appointment and here's what I didn't know I mean just a lot of stuff I'm now going to be part of a study for the next year and a half I got accepted into it they gave me a physical they did all this stuff and they said you were eligible for the study and we're going to give you the product and you're going to take it well we're going to give you a product 50% chance it's going to be the product and the other one is going to be a placebo you won't know well huh but you know 50% chance of having the product that sounds pretty good especially when you're getting it for free and here's the other thing I didn't know I'm getting paid to do this I never even considered that they told me that at the end of the you know of the appointment it's like a three-hour appointment today and he said oh here let me give you this and he handed me a visa debit card and they said you'll notice on your phone we're gonna put money in it I said you'll put money in it what is this oh you get paid for this I'm getting paid mileage to drive up there and today I think I made 112 bucks for going there and sitting my butt down and having a physical done and all of this stuff that I did I said oh and then I go back Monday for blood work and when I go back Monday for blood work I get paid that same amount again plus because it's fasting blood work plus they're buying my lunch afterwards they're you know they're adding like a stipend onto that little card for me to get lunch and I said oh okay because of the fact that it's any days that you go there you're supposed to fast before you go there so this is interesting I know science is amazing and what they do I did not know this I'm learning new things every day life is exciting life is wonderful I am so grateful did I sound like a robot I don't know but anyway testing all of these people it's a double blind study that means half the people get it half the people don't and they'll check the results when it's all done and I'm not going to name the pharmaceutical company but it's one of the big ones if I said it you'd know what it is but I'm not going to name the name of the company but that's cool that's like really awesome so I'm looking forward to doing this this will be fun I'd never heard of something like this or my I knew in the back of my mind that they tested people and there's 1,500 people involved in this test I'm one of the 1,500 and they say oh here's the good part they said in case you're getting the placebo and you don't lose any weight we're still going to pay you to stay on the thing because we need you to be on the study until the end to make the study worthwhile and they're going to pay me well to be on it I said okay I didn't even know about the money part I just was interested in getting the product but this is it and this is what it is so I'm excited and we'll see what happens I'll keep you posted have you ever been in a study email me michaelkross at gmail.com tell me about it was it worth your while did you feel as though you were helping science did you feel as though you were helping America helping America did you feel as though you were taking steps to improve your life because that's how I look at this I'm taking steps to improve my life because of the whack medical system that we have in this country which is whack people can't afford these drugs but now through the study I'm going to at least get a year and a half of it maybe halfway chance of getting it but still I feel as though I am helping society who knows I'm grateful for the opportunity I hope you're having a terrific day we'll try and be on a better schedule for tomorrow take care everybody you you you you you you
