Of course I just want to say that We'll But we're keeping Jay in our thoughts We just hope for the best He's having a health issue so This last time I saw a junior tour The one that we were just on was really fun Yeah And we were doing We were doing great I know it's fun saying I really hope that everything's okay You were doing great Yeah, it seemed like it was a really great time And it's been happening a lot When I play with Dinosaur Junior I have real moments where we are playing shows And I'm just Digging it Playing That's what's happening a lot? Oh my god and the last show that we completed was a Boise item And Doug March He of Bill to Spill Okay Fame And also Brett for Bill to Spill Slash Caustic Resin They came to the show Steve Turner from Mudhoney came to the show Like Doug March really loves Dinosaur Junior And it was a really influential band for him And sometimes I feel like Jay doesn't know Really The effect that he has had And how he empowered people as a songwriter And a guitar player in particular He really did Really light a fighter under guitar players' asses Doug March is a great guitar player Built to Spill as a great guitar band And to know that Dinosaur Junior Were influential to them And to see Jay hearing that And then talking after the show Like in the bus in the lounge And I'm like yeah you know And then because Bill to Spill Also were incredibly influential Like when I would talk to Elliot Smith back in the day He communicated to me that Bill to Spill Were like his band That was the band that really gave him His voice that empowered him You know so we all pass along these things And for me also to have a I'd talk to Steve Turner A little bit about the music that we love And how much honey They, Mudhoney and Dinosaur came together We were really formed at the same time And kind of had the same ideas About using crazy old guitar effects And making this newish Grungeer, heavier, hard rock music And it was cool to talk to him about that So the last show that we did complete There was I had a really nice feeling about it We got word that we had to go home I was like damn I was kind of looking forward We were gonna do Last few shows Now we're gonna do Spookan We're gonna do Portland and Seattle That would have been great And fly back home But anyway That's all I always do what I gotta do And things are always kind of shifting and changing Especially as you were saying As you are now You're getting caught flashes Oof I have an eternal glottal Is that the right thing? That's been my thing since the very beginning, the first time that I've given some when I gave Mark Harris a cassette of my early. Yeah. Right. I offered them to my friend Mark because we just performed for each other and then I took it sort of a step further and performed for him through cassette tapes and he sent me back a tape of him performing prank phone calls.

Yeah you're going to be a little bit dumber too on the quiz. So while you were on tour with Easy Action and Snail Mail, who fantastic like ended up being such a fun trio, Dinosaur, Snail Mail and Easy Action, actually could not have gotten any cuter. So amazing. Lindsay who is the lead singer of Snail Mail.
She and John Brannen like just developed this adorable friendship and I just loved it. And I got to be there for a show in Minneapolis as well. So before the tour ended, I was in Wisconsin with two of the kids, Isine Hendricks and we were visiting my family and having some time there together. And during our stay in Wisconsin, it coincided with Lou playing a show in Minneapolis and you know, I'm from Minneapolis.
And so it's like, it just seemed like it was meant to be right. It just came together so beautifully. I mean, that was a great highlight of that tour too. Could be because our friends Kurt Vile showed up with his band and our friend John Maloney who was working for him who used to work for it.
I mean, it's like it was. Or the not even Kyle. Kyle. That's what I mean.
It was like Kyle there was Jesse. There was, you know, it was just a really fun group. And also then I got to see dear friends of mine and some family like both of my brothers. I was at the Dinosaur Junior Show in Minneapolis with my brother Dylan and my brother Holland.
So we were there together and that was really special. And Izzy and you know, and I'm not supposed to be on the boss, but that's fine. And he was like, he's seen enough shows. And it was just really fun.
It's be there with Barrett and Amy and oh, and then I got to meet Lori Barbarro from Babes in Toyland who's, you know, Minneapolis legend, incredible musician, right? And even though we'd been in the same circles for so many years, never actually met in person but we got to meet that night. And being up in the balcony and watching the show with her was so cool. She just like knew every single, I don't know if the word is like drum beat or you know, like for she played along in the air like perfectly to every single song.
It was incredible. Her band Babes in Toyland, the very first show, their first show was opening for Dinosaur. What? And you said it was in the seventh street entry.
The seventh street entry. What year is that? I would assume 1987 like on our first fucking tour. Were you opening for Sonic Youth or is this just Dinosaur on tour?
Oh God, I don't remember. Dad I don't remember but she would. Oh yeah. Yeah.
Many people would. I do not, I was so nervous back then. I could barely like, I barely registered what was happening around me. I was so profoundly nervous.
Wow. What a legendary show in the seventh street entry. People don't know that is a very, very small club that's like adjacent. It's next to the seventh, sorry, it's next to first avenue in Minneapolis which you know, maybe you've seen from Prince Purple Rain, right?
So yeah, anyway, seventh street entry is like what? Maybe 200 capacity at most. It's quite small and. I don't know.
I don't know. But yeah, I've seen many of the other and the idea of you all there in the 80s is just wow. I'm just going to be yelling, fricking at the microphone, screaming. Hey.
