Of course I just want to say that We'll But we're keeping Jay in our thoughts We just hope for the best He's having a health issue so This last time I saw a junior tour The one that we were just on was really fun Yeah And we were doing We were doing great I know it's fun saying I really hope that everything's okay You were doing great Yeah, it seemed like it was a really great time And it's been happening a lot When I play with Dinosaur Junior I have real moments where we are playing shows And I'm just Digging it Playing That's what's happening a lot? I'm digging it Oh you're digging it Okay Yes I'm digging it Looking at Murph Murph's looking good Jay's doing this thing And it's coming together and I'm like Wow this is such a great thing in my life Yeah And I really enjoy it Like I really really enjoy it so And I don't take it for granted And this tour in particular Yeah Was so fun right?

Oh my god and the last show that we completed was a Boise item And Doug March He of Bill to Spill Okay Fame And also Brett for Bill to Spill Slash Caustic Resin They came to the show Steve Turner from Mudhoney came to the show Like Doug March really loves Dinosaur Junior And it was a really influential band for him And sometimes I feel like Jay doesn't know Really The effect that he has had And how he empowered people as a songwriter And a guitar player in particular He really did Really light a fighter under guitar players' asses Doug March is a great guitar player Built to Spill as a great guitar band And to know that Dinosaur Junior Were influential to them And to see Jay hearing that And then talking after the show Like in the bus in the lounge And I'm like yeah you know And then because Bill to Spill Also were incredibly influential Like when I would talk to Elliot Smith back in the day He communicated to me that Bill to Spill Were like his band That was the band that really gave him His voice that empowered him You know so we all pass along these things And for me also to have a I'd talk to Steve Turner A little bit about the music that we love And how much honey They, Mudhoney and Dinosaur came together We were really formed at the same time And kind of had the same ideas About using crazy old guitar effects And making this newish Grungeer, heavier, hard rock music And it was cool to talk to him about that So the last show that we did complete There was I had a really nice feeling about it We got word that we had to go home I was like damn I was kind of looking forward We were gonna do Last few shows Now we're gonna do Spookan We're gonna do Portland and Seattle That would have been great And fly back home But anyway That's all I always do what I gotta do And things are always kind of shifting and changing Especially as you were saying As you are now You're getting caught flashes Oof I have an eternal glottal Is that the right thing? I have a little creak glottal Part of the larynix consisting of the vocal cord Is that a word? Did you think that? Lottal?

Yeah This is an acceptable use of the word glottal I heard that Glottal Paining to the glottis But yeah, glottal It's a Part of the larynix consisting of the vocal cord This thing's an You know that thing in the back of my throat It's kind of there all the time And so anyway You know you've been really like throat Focused when I think about it really Probably like your whole life because you've been playing With like how you say things And it always takes like this Like this full body almost like Expression from you Like you know when you were little And Mark was influencing you in how you would say things Like you're always really expressing yourself You know like from your It's not just your mouth is your throat It's your chest I love I love So yeah you've kind of I love cartoons when I was little We loved Bugs Bunny cartoons My friend Mark and I I did several episodes dedicated to him When we first started the podcast Anybody wants to go back I know I feel like who's Mark? I really want to find out who Mark is I'm a new Raw fan He was my best friend who Mark was He was my best friend when I was in fourth grade I met him in fourth grade And we would pretty much he would recite cartoons And commercials And we would And it was an expressive Really though right? An expressive way and I got was when Oh mother Gulped So again I'm thinking later It was almost me I hope he's This guy was AMSR Everything he did and I just found him endlessly entertaining He was extremely obnoxious You want to be soft You got to be soft Really obnoxious guy Boy I worshiped him And I say quit And I'm sorry It's Leave it to be My mind was blown I watched Leave it to beaver I bet I did Anyway so yeah Mark Harris Yes I've always really been in I'm so glad he just said his last name For some reason his name was like Psh just gone It's like just Mark to me And then I'm like Mark Well Mark Mark made his mark He did Yeah I may not remember his last name that quickly but He did make an impression And that was so inspirational about cartoons like the Bugs Bunny cartoons Most of the words Most of the words Most of the characters were voiced by Mel Blanc So even just the least that Mel Blanc That was the wrong He did Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck and he was a fucking genius Oh my gosh And he was buried in Hollywood forever cemetery With the two Ramones The one in Hollywood The Hollywood forever Yeah so wait what's the other one Oh for Slan Yeah I mean there's more than one in two There's more than two There's multiple for Slans Anyway So I just want a quick shout out Oh now is your voice ready for this shout out? Maybe Okay Paul Lenzafami Gorgeous I was told that his last name was like Long Salami Oh Yeah Howdy howdy howdy do Howdy do So Paul thank you so much for fixing my for my for track Yes thank you Paul Now the for track man does have a new place to live And yeah That's exciting That's really we really appreciate Paul thank you so much And picking it up and then bringing it back and all the things And your lovely family we enjoyed meeting as well And so yeah that's very nice Oh and speaking of shout outs we will get to our August birthday shout outs just you know that's gonna happen we've gotten some good Email some really nice emails People are starting to write I feel like these really nice long kind of emails telling us what the pod means to them or means to the partner that this person is choosing to you know have the birthday shout out and I I'd like to say thank you for those thoughtful emails that people are sending they really do mean a lot to us and we are grateful for it because sometimes you can maybe lose a little bit of your spark when you're doing a creative output like this podcast in the world where there is no shortage of we all can agree there's no shortage of podcasts out there right and we're just one of like thousands and thousands floating around in this world that you can tune into at any time and so the fact that people actually do choose to spend time with us and then even send us emails and engage with us Thank you.

I want to say really that those are little reminders that I really need from time to time and they come when I need them actually so yeah that's nice it's really about the little things and it's really about the little little words the connections I know you know I've since he got out bad things keep happening. Cape Fear, a new series, is now streaming on Apple TV. Why would I want to hurt you? Why starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem.

Why? And Academy Award nominee Ine Adams. He is coming after my family. Cape Fear, now streaming on Apple TV, subscription acquired for Apple TV.

That's been my thing since the very beginning, the first time that I've given some when I gave Mark Harris a cassette of my early. Yeah. Right. I offered them to my friend Mark because we just performed for each other and then I took it sort of a step further and performed for him through cassette tapes and he sent me back a tape of him performing prank phone calls.

We can have the subscription if anyone's wondering what the fuck I'm talking about. Oh yeah, we'll do that. You don't think he's me or not Mark? I don't.

Yeah you're going to be a little bit dumber too on the quiz. So while you were on tour with Easy Action and Snail Mail, who fantastic like ended up being such a fun trio, Dinosaur, Snail Mail and Easy Action, actually could not have gotten any cuter. So amazing. Lindsay who is the lead singer of Snail Mail.

She and John Brannen like just developed this adorable friendship and I just loved it. And I got to be there for a show in Minneapolis as well. So before the tour ended, I was in Wisconsin with two of the kids, Isine Hendricks and we were visiting my family and having some time there together. And during our stay in Wisconsin, it coincided with Lou playing a show in Minneapolis and you know, I'm from Minneapolis.

And so it's like, it just seemed like it was meant to be right. It just came together so beautifully. I mean, that was a great highlight of that tour too. Could be because our friends Kurt Vile showed up with his band and our friend John Maloney who was working for him who used to work for it.

I mean, it's like it was. Or the not even Kyle. Kyle. That's what I mean.

It was like Kyle there was Jesse. There was, you know, it was just a really fun group. And also then I got to see dear friends of mine and some family like both of my brothers. I was at the Dinosaur Junior Show in Minneapolis with my brother Dylan and my brother Holland.

So we were there together and that was really special. And Izzy and you know, and I'm not supposed to be on the boss, but that's fine. And he was like, he's seen enough shows. And it was just really fun.

It's be there with Barrett and Amy and oh, and then I got to meet Lori Barbarro from Babes in Toyland who's, you know, Minneapolis legend, incredible musician, right? And even though we'd been in the same circles for so many years, never actually met in person but we got to meet that night. And being up in the balcony and watching the show with her was so cool. She just like knew every single, I don't know if the word is like drum beat or you know, like for she played along in the air like perfectly to every single song.

It was incredible. Her band Babes in Toyland, the very first show, their first show was opening for Dinosaur. What? And you said it was in the seventh street entry.

The seventh street entry. What year is that? I would assume 1987 like on our first fucking tour. Were you opening for Sonic Youth or is this just Dinosaur on tour?

Oh God, I don't remember. Dad I don't remember but she would. Oh yeah. Yeah.

Many people would. I do not, I was so nervous back then. I could barely like, I barely registered what was happening around me. I was so profoundly nervous.

Wow. What a legendary show in the seventh street entry. People don't know that is a very, very small club that's like adjacent. It's next to the seventh, sorry, it's next to first avenue in Minneapolis which you know, maybe you've seen from Prince Purple Rain, right?

So yeah, anyway, seventh street entry is like what? Maybe 200 capacity at most. It's quite small and. I don't know.

I don't know. But yeah, I've seen many of the other and the idea of you all there in the 80s is just wow. I'm just going to be yelling, fricking at the microphone, screaming. Hey.

Hey, I'll be here. I'm interested to say that you're at about the 19 minute mark. I mean, not here to rush you. This is pressure free.

You're in the swirl. This is pressure free. I'm just saying, about 19 minutes into this this God God God and I'm here for you guys. You guys, I'm gonna clean the shoe, I'm gonna do a new machine.

Is that the wire? Can you hear all this? Listen, it's amazing. I'm in a new home.

Thank you so much for that. Okay. Gary, I'll come back a little bit later. I'll remind you again.

He sounds good. Just in case for a drive-in. Wow. Things that maybe, maybe that you're boring.

Lou, just in case you think that you're boring anyone. Don't you know? Don't want you to get too carried away with yourself. No, no, no, no, no.

Well, fuck you. It's Bartrak Man. I'm glad you're back. Oh my gosh.

Well... He's living also not only in a new fortrak, but he's being... His impression is being made on these grateful dead live shows. Yes.

Interesting. I really feel for the people who... They feel that so deeply. They're so sad by that.

Sorry, guys. I fucking aspirated my smoothie. You what? Aspirated my smoothie.

Aspirated. That means you're choking. Yes, I breathed it in. Instead of sipping, I just literally inhaled it into my lungs.

So now, talk about what I already have going on in the back of my throat. It's actually getting me hot. It's even worse. Oh my gosh.

It's getting hot. This doesn't make me so hot. Oh my gosh. Did you just like glottle?

Ooh, physically. Glottle. My furnace, my button just turned. My button just turned on.

Listen to this. What are we talking about here? Menopause or something else? Okay.

Oh, that was, I mean, speaking of buttons. Are you okay? Are you hot in that robe? I'm so fucking hot in this robe.

Yeah. I can't even believe you're... Jesus. I can't believe...

I can't even talk now. Do you want me to... What do I do? Do I talk?

Ah! Well, offer a refund for that one. Sorry, guys. You get your money back for listening to that.

We refund the episode. Oh my lord. We're offering a full refund on this episode. Full refund on this episode.

Oh my god. You guys, I hope we're able to do some pod from the road because we have like a long ass to work coming up. Holy shit. We're getting the road on Friday and we'll be gone forever.

Just forever. It's loose solo, like, loose solo, yellow all over the world. The US and Canada. It's just a little jaunt.

It's a... It feels long to me. I'm doing a five-show jaunt through... Part of Canada.

Part of Canada. Part Quebec and then Ontario. It's just a little... Just a little...

Just a little... Bit of Montreal. Ottawa. Toronto.

London. Ontario. OK. Windsor.

That's literally disgusting, actually. I know. I just want you to know that. No.

It's like legit. It's like never actually leave my throat. Oh my. This is permanent.

This is a solo tour. It starts on Friday, everyone, and so what is he dangling about? Oh, it's time to wrap it up. Here you are.

Now you've gone, it's been a while. And um... I don't even... That fell very fast, me just talking about the thing in your throat again.

That's how... Freeform this podcast is. This is just where I'm just gonna talk about loose throat. There's more...

No. I don't... Never enough. Never enough.

Um... What the hell? Um... Give me a call and you're not gonna fall off.

Oh! Mm-hmm. You did a home phone, guys. Okay.

1982, right here. Hey, thanks to everyone for listening to the Round Pressions podcast. It gives me something to do. It gives me something to do with the great.

And um... When Luke gets... When Luke gets an idea. If he ever gets any more ideas, maybe...

Maybe I'll be back with something interesting to say. But we're waiting. We can... we can wait, though.

A little while. Alright. Slow away. Oh gosh.

Oh. Oh. Well, we got a... that little sound.

Is that the cowbell? That's the mini cowbell. Yeah. So...

This is actually... Oh! So the mini cowbell, though... The sound of the mini cowbell indicates...

The sound of the mini cowbell indicates... Typically. Typically the sound of the unsponsored local ad. But...

you guys, this is... We're gonna end it on a really high note. Um... We have our first official endorsement of our podcast, Raw Impressions from Samsung Technologies.

Samsung. Samsung. What did I say? Samsung.

Did I say wrong? I don't know. Samsung. Like Samsung and Delilah.

Okay. So Samsung... endorsement. You guys.

And I'm... I'm here. I'm in headphones. They sent us these headphones.

Look at this microphone. I haven't been fighting. Remember how I would fight with that mic? This is a mic stand.

And a microphone that I did not fight with at all. This entire episode. That's true. That was a really annoying thing, actually.

I'm gonna be fucking real. I hated that. It's hard to get it out. Swear during my...

Comfy for these things. Shout out to Samsung. Things kind of have to be just so. And this desk mounted stand has made it much easier to put that microphone right in your face.

Thank you. Where it belongs. I love it. I'm a fan.

Q9U microphone. We got two of them. Samsung sent me a big box of stuff. Yeah.

Including a mixing board. They sent us a mixing board. I got it needed a mixing board. I don't know if people know what my deal is as far as like gear and stuff goes, but I rarely get new things.

So it's true, actually. That is 100% true. So this was a big deal. Big deal.

We got two big boxes delivered to our house from them and they reached out to us. We didn't even go to them and go with them. I'm like, please. They were like, hey guys, we're here for you.

And we were like, really? For us? For raw? This free form, wild little podcast.

Amazing. This is a podcast that's not known for its fidelity. Yeah. Look at us.

Q9U. Q9U microphones. Yep. We have a mixing board.

It's the MXP 144FX console. Okay. And then the mic stands. And the mic stands.

Yeah. And the headphones. And in our show notes, you can get 15% off. What?

Yep. On all Samsung products using the code Barlow. We will have a link in our show notes. 15% off.

15% off guys. So please hit that up and use our code. Can you believe I just said that? Everyone, can you just, a round of applause?

That's our first time saying like use a show code or, you know, what? Yes. The gear world is can be very intimidating. I personally am totally intimidated by it.

Yes, you are. It's true. I have always made the most out of the least. Yes.

And I just do that. It's just some kind of weird quirk of mine. I'm not a gear guy. I play things until they break.

Yeah. And I use things until they break. And I use broken things. And it's your creativity you bring to it.

So I use, I'm a shoestring guy. Yeah, you are. But I'm really, what did you call it today that what happened? What?

That they, that they, glam this. Oh, we got a glow up. Look at this. We got a glow up on the pod.

That's incredible. And so, Samsung, thank you very much. And you guys use our code and are you happy to have us back? We're so happy to be back.

We'll be back with more episodes. So, really soon. We're not going to leave it here again. We're not.

No, we've got a lot of work this week. We'll leave this time on back from to work. Yay. Until then.
