While every other channel is fighting for your customer's attention, podcasts are where they've already given it. No one accidentally listens to a podcast for 45 minutes. They choose to be here. They trust the voice in their ears.

And when that voice talks about your brand, it doesn't sound like advertising. It sounds like a recommendation from a friend. ACAST gives you that trust at scale. Digital precision, post-read authenticity, and performance data that proves it worked.

Don't fight for attention. Buy it with ACAST. Learn more by visiting acast.com slash advertise. Lew and the Della laying it down on Christmas Day 2023.

What do you gotta say about that, Fort track man? Oh, oh, oh, what I gotta say. Merry Christmas, you two. What's gonna happen on this mini music Monday?

I heard a rumor that you weren't even gonna play any music. Is that true, Lew? You can't play a song today, Christmas? Huh?

Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. I got some plays. Okay, whatever.

A no. Sweetheart. What are you thinking of on this Christmas day? What is the first thing that you'd like to talk about?

Oh, I'm thinking about the gifts we received that we opened up. And how... I'm gonna read some books next year, guys. Wait, you're jumping right ahead to your resolutions for next year?

Well, those are not like a... it's not a finished list yet. I'm just starting to develop my resolutions and working on them. You went right from the gifts that we opened to your resolution.

Well, because I triggered my ideas for what I'd like to do in the new year. How so? Because we received books for Christmas. Oh!

And I was pretty surprised to receive books because I typically do not receive books wisely because I've been a terrible reader for most of my adult life. I'll be perfectly honest. You can read. I can read, of course.

You know some big words. No, I don't, but I'd like to know more. You know some. I don't.

Well, the thing is you gotta read on a Kindle. I've been through this before. Yeah, I know. I'm a big Kindle supporter.

I understand you just press it. I love that feature. And in real books, as hard as you want to, you can poke that page. It won't give you the definition.

It won't give you the definition. And also, you need lighting to read that way. I know. I mean, I think I just can't read when I'm going to bed, which is typically I think when people read, it's usually when you read.

But this will be my resolution or my goal to not read like before bed. I'll just, because I received actual physical books, so I just have to carve out some time during the day. I think it more into using my timer to give myself timed activities. I'm going to say this.

Be kind to yourself when you don't touch those books. Oh, I'm going to touch them. I promise you. You can touch them.

I'm going to pile. Pick them up. Put them in a pile. Put another book on top of it.

Once you put another book on top of another book, I mean, it's like you can't get it. Those books then weigh the weight is compounded. Especially when you put a lamp on top of them. Sure.

Just put a lamp on top. Put something that you really don't want to move on top of them. And then you can see that you can, you know, they are practical. You know, they do create height for other things.

They hold down papers. I need to read more books. I feel it in my aging brain. Read them on a Kindle.

I don't know where my Kindle is. You use one of mine. You have like so many kindles. You have blue as the master of lost kindles.

He just, every story is like lost another Kindle. And then they come back to me. They come back. I actually think we do have all of them right now.

I have like three kindles. Yeah. I have three kindles and I use them all, not all the time, but I use them in bed. And that's all pointed out into this a million times.

And there's no need to go any further. But if you give me a book and it's a hard cover, I'm not going to read it. It becomes more stuff in my house. Well, then maybe someone should give you a Kindle gift card.

That would be great. Yeah. That would be great. Like, hey, Lou, thanks for contributing to my book.

This happens every once in a while, by the way. It does. I got a book for Christmas that I was in, that I'm in, for my in-laws. Yep.

This tape book about tapes by Mark Masters. Hi, bias by Mark Masters. The distorted history of the cassette tape. Masters that already sent that to me.

My dad did not know, by the way. He didn't know that I was in the book. He had no idea. I know he was.

So now I have two. I mean, he lives in the book. I have two copies of Mark Masters book. I'm going to actually just end up getting in the Kindle myself.

We have to re-gift one of them, Mark. Sorry. I'm not sorry. It's great.

One was gifted to us. My dad bought it for Lou for Christmas. Not knowing that I was actually mentioned in the book. I know.

It distorted his current book. He said that he gets a newsletter from, I believe it was like the University of North Carolina. I don't know why he's on this email list. But he said that they seem to put out a lot of books about music.

Yeah, that's the press. It's like the University of North Carolina press, put out Mark Masters book. Hi, Lou. He read a long newsletter that they put out talking about some books.

That's where he got the inspiration for those two books he bought you. They're thoughtful choices. Yeah, I thought so too. I'm going to get the Kindle codes.

I'm going to read them on the Kindle. Well, there you go. Okay. The book will become sort of a symbol.

Well, that's neat. I mean, Eons ago, when I used to read physical books and I'm going to again, I used to be one of those people who would even highlight things and circle things and put little stars next to paragraphs that were meaningful to me. I like that about you. She highlights things.

I want to bring that back. I love a good highlighter. You look like you're itching to play me a song here. Lou has a guitar in his hand and he's got his fingers on the strings and a freshly shaved face.

A freshly saved face. Saved? Freshly saved face. Whoa.

Maybe so. I think you look. You look very handsome. That's surprising.

For today, because today is a very, very, very, it's Christmas day. It's a very, very, very chill day. This is like the chilest Christmas in history of my life. We are wicked, gentle, and from our LA trip.

Oh, and Izzy came into our room at 4.30 a.m. Yep. Ready to open presents. It was dark.

It actually stays dark for a long time. It was dark when we actually finally went down two hours after she first came in. I don't know if I've ever had a child do that to me. That's what I did.

I wanted to do to my parents. I used to just go downstairs. When I was still dark outside, I'm just staring at the tree and wait to hear my dad shifting around upstairs. And then be like, all right.

It's on. Here he's coming. Don't let them come down. That's what happened to us today.

We were the drowsing parents on the couch. We were the total stereotypical, completely drowsy parents. It's such a huge mistake. I took an elp.

I've been going light on the Alprazolam, but last night I thought, hey, I'm going to do a full Alprazolam, which I did at midnight. So 4.30 is the Alprazolam still there. It's still in my bloodstream. So I was feeling the pretty dopey when I came down to watch Izzy.

So excited. Joy. Joy. Peer joy.

I've just never, you know, the other two kids, not so much. Just a different reaction. Pretty mellow. They were like, you know, I'm up.

Yeah, we'll get to it. We'll get to it. We'll get to it. Izzy was like full on 1974.

Like, come on. She's like classic. Poor thing, just so tortured. A Christmas story kind of vibes.

She was like. And she tore through each thing with just, I mean. Gusto? Yes.

That girl. Got some gusto. I did not, I was going to try to get her to plow through some Christmas carols for this episode, but she didn't seem interested. She's too busy racking her around thing today.

I'm going to go home on Tourage of Baby Lives. She's busy. She's busy. I'm busy.

She was feeling brave. And then, mow them their guitar. Yeah, yes, he is. He still wants to get ready to play yourself a song.

I can't. I'm going to try one of those new folk-compleasion songs. You can get a whole lot of sleep last night. Your brain ain't functioning so well right now.

Yeah. Good luck. It's song-commencing in three jingles. It was my resolution.

This is my resolution is to just play these songs and fuck them up live on the podcast. Okay. You know, like instead of, because I kind of got into a thing where I was trying to perfect them before I played them. Mmm.

Fuck that. Fuck it up, baby. I like you lose. I got to do it.

Sorry. Live. Live. This is truly live.

Live. I got to point it to Mike now. Well, I don't care if vultures take me. Okay.

I'm really messing up. Oh, no. It's okay. I don't care if vultures take me and drag me to the prison in the sky.

I know somehow it'd come and save me. Cause I've lived a few forever's in your eyes. My spirit's strong and go. Walk through me and in your wake.

Leave me a taste. Talk through me. I bought the thought there out to get me. Chasing me through rivers like I'm praying.

But surely only one to eat me. And I'm learning to receive and keeps me safe. Your spirit is strong. I'm going to walk through me and in your wake.

Leave me a taste. Talk through me. Talk through me. You got to be the one you love to be in love.

You got to be the one you love to be in. Be the one you love to be in. Be the one you love to be in love. The world's full about to break me.

With your words and your grace I hold my ground. You give me all the strength I need. If I use it all, it'll be easy to wait and see. Your spirit is strong.

Go on. Walk through me and in your wake. And on that you go. Leave me a taste.

Leave me a taste. I'm going to walk through me and in your wake. Go on. Walk through me.

Leave me a taste. Talk through me. Never been interrupted before. I like that.

I think this is actually a good thing. Getting really raw. Just push through those boundaries. Oh, there's back again.

I don't know what that's about. Well, I'm proud of you. Walk through me from, it's going to be on the new full Completion Record. Not my favorites.
