A Visit to A Child’s Garden of Song

We’re super excited to bring you music from a brand new release: A Child’s Garden of Song, Vol. 2, folk and acoustic music settings of children’s poems by Robert Louis Stevenson! Written in 1882 at the height of his career, the collection of 64 poems for children soon became a favorite amongst children and adults alike, and is one of the works through which Stevenson is best known today. Back in the early 2000’s a group of folk and Americana artists joined forces on the original Child’s Garden of Song. Volume 2 features many of the original artists and contributions from several Two Cat Kitchen regulars! The poems, written from the point of view of a child, are wonderfully expressive in their simplicity, and seem particularly suitable for musical adaptation. Our settings strive to maintain their sense of innocence and celebration of the wonders of childhood.
