A Week in the Life of Jesus — The Resurrection (Easter Sunday)
from LifeWell Messages
The Passion Week series reaches its climax in Luke 23–24. The message begins in the grief after the crucifixion, noting the precise prophecies fulfilled — including the rich man's tomb of Isaiah 53, embodied in Joseph of Arimathea, a believer on the very council that condemned Jesus. The women come at dawn with spices, expecting a decaying body, and find an empty tomb that at first increases doubt rather than erasing it. The angels' rebuke — “why do you look for the living among the dead?” — recalls that Jesus had plainly foretold his resurrection. It is the women who first proclaim it; the men dismiss it as nonsense until Peter runs to see. The strongest argument offered for the resurrection is the transformation of the apostles — cowards who became martyrs. The teaching closes on a God still in the resurrection business, inviting anyone who has run from him to make today a homecoming.
