A white pebble
from Daily Picture · host Stephanie Hawkins
Today I saw a beautiful, smooth, white pebble that could be held comfortably in one's hand. Somehow this has brought to mind the tangible aspect of God's Kingdom. To some it may seem to be a fanciful, imaginary kingdom. There are many verses in the Bible which reveal a connection between God's spiritual kingdom and our lives here on earth. Indeed, His Holy Spirit lives in us, to guide us. After Jesus had been here on earth as a man, killed on a cross and resurrected, he appeared in physical form to his disciples before He ascended into heaven, saying, "See my hands and my feet that it is I myself. Touch me and see. A ghost does not have flesh and bones as you see I have " (Luke 24:39). Before His crucifixion He had told them, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also" (John 14:2-3). Jesus said He will be back. For now, God's Kingdom physically intersects our lives in many ways through His physical believers, for instance with the timely phone call and many unconditional acts of love.
