It’s safe to say… opinions were mixed. Alicia enjoyed the spooky vibes and the fresh focus on side characters (shoutout to Mary!), while Emilie struggled with Elizabeth’s portrayal as an all-capable witch who never stumbles.   But this book also got us thinking about something deeper: Mr. Bennet’s tendency to let Elizabeth shoulder way too much responsibility. This “parentification” sparked a real conversation between Alicia and Emilie about the pressures we place on children—and how we're trying to avoid putting too much on our own kids. How much is too much for a child?   In true Halloween spirit, we touch on what really gives us the chills in stories.
