It's a brand-new month which means a brand-new slate of episodes here at Car RayRob! For Rob's episode of SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FILM, he's decided to bring his first challenge of the year by recommending to Ray the John Cassavetes classic A WOMAN UNDER THE INFLUENCE! This gem of art house filmmaking is one of Cassavetes numerous collaborations with real-life wife Gena Rowlands (OPENING NIGHT, THE NOTEBOOK), in a truly powerhouse performance. Rowlands stars as Mabel, a working-class mother whose mental health becomes questionable after a night out on her own after being stood up by her husband, Nick, played by Peter Falk (COLUMBO, WINGS OF DESIRE).  While Cassavetes is widely held as one of Hollywood's great directors, he can be divisive among film viewers. His gritty, ultra-realistic style has been said to make his films a taxing experience on the audience. Because of this, there is no guarantee that Ray is going to like this film.  Will Gena Rowland's performance for the ages hook Ray into her tale of woe? Or will Cassavetes almost cinema-verité style prove too much for Ray to handle?
