As always, it is built by 12 tracks selected from 20 EPs released over the past two years. Some of these songs may not for dancefloors. They are the ones that grew downward, slower, deeper, and more patient. Dao De Jing has a line: “归根曰静，是谓复命”. To return to the root is called stillness, this is called returning to one's own life. Pulse was the rhythm. Root is what a rhythm needs underneath it, to keep beating. Autumn rarely arrives all at once. The heat holds on for weeks past the date on the calendar. Awakening the same. Gradual, easy to miss while it's happening, visible mostly in hindsight. "Root" is both an action and a state. It means staying in one place long enough to begin growing downward; long enough to stop chasing noise and volume, and start listening to the soil; long enough to realize that true awakening is when your feet loosen their grip and your crown reaches upward.
