Aaron Dean Sentenced: 11Y 10M 12D!
from The Andrew Branca Show · host Attorney Andrew F. Branca
Aaron Dean, convicted last week of reckless manslaughter in the shooting death of Atatiana Jefferson, was sentenced by the jury today to a term of 11 years, 10 months, and 12 days. The 10 months and 12 days is likely simply because the shooting occurred on October 12, of 2019--10/12.So, an extra year, almost, for the month and date of the tragic event. Justice. This was an unjust conviction--no rational jury properly informed of the law and evidence could have arrived at a conviction on the charge of reckless manslaughter, while also acquitting Dean of the murder charge on the grounds of self-defense--and by extension this is an unjust sentence. But the State was relentless in lying to the jury about both the law and evidence, and sadly Dean's defense team did a pathetically bad job in defending their client. This would have been a very different trial had I been consulting on this case. Sadly for Dean, he got railroaded, and there was nobody to stop the train that ran him over.
