AARP Kentucky announces $1 million in grants from AARP Foundation to help support tornado victims

from North American Network

Organizations, throughout Kentucky, continue to offer both direct aid and legal services to victims of December’s tornadoes. And, several of these groups are now being helped in their efforts—by grants from “A-A-R-P Foundation” that total one-million dollars. Charlotte Whittaker is “A-A-R-P Kentucky’s” volunteer state-president… “We’re grateful to have this assistance for our fellow Kentuckians. These donated funds will help local organizations address the needs of those who continue to be affected by the tornadoes’ widespread damage; this includes low-income older adults, veterans, and many other Kentuckians, who will still need our support, for months to come.” Jill Collins is with the “Pennyrile Area Agency on Aging and Independent Living”… “Not only do older adults represent a disproportionate share of storm-related fatalities—but the long-term effects on those who survive often affect their physical and mental health, economic security, and overall wellbeing.” To learn more, visit “a-a-r-p”-dot-org-slash-“k-y-tornado”.
