AARP Maryland outlines its priorities for this year’s legislative session of the General Assembly

This year’s legislative session of the “Maryland General Assembly” is underway. And, “A-A-R-P Maryland’s” state-director, Hank Greenberg, says that the group is focusing on issues that make life better for all residents… “We know that Marylanders, of all ages, are feeling the pressure of increased prices. And, ‘A-A-R-P Maryland’ is advocating for reasonable utility-costs; strong consumer-protections, to prevent price-gouging and fraud; as well as access to affordable, high-speed Internet. We’re also opposing possible cuts to the ‘Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program’—known as ‘SNAP’—which is a lifeline for many residents. Our legislative priorities, this year, include supporting Maryland’s 790-thousand family-caregivers—as well as strengthening cognitive- and behavioral-health services, to address depression, anxiety, and loneliness among older persons.
