AARP Mississippi warns of scams that target holiday shoppers
The holiday-deals have already begun—including online. Unfortunately, this means that scams are also more common. “A-A-R-P Mississippi’s” state-director, Kimberly L- Campbell, offers these tips… “The safest place to shop online is with retailers whom you trust. This includes either using their app, or typing their Web-address into your browser—rather than clicking on a link from a text, e-mail, or online ad. Also, any ‘unbelievable’ deals that your social-media contacts might message you about are truly not to be believed: Criminals are experts at hacking social-media accounts—and one of the first things that they do is [to] send out fake offers to a victim’s friends and family. Our ‘Fraud-Watch Network’ is a free resource that can help everyone learn how to proactively spot scams—and get guidance, if they’ve been targeted.” To learn more, visit “a-a-r-p”-dot-org-slash-“m-s”—or call 1-877-908-3360.
