AARP thanks New Mexico’s U.S. senators for their commitment to lowering prescription-drug prices

from North American Network

“A-A-R-P New Mexico” recently presented Senators Martin Heinrich and Ben Ray Luján with a petition that was signed by over 31-thousand New Mexicans—calling for Congress to act now on unfair drug-prices. Beth Velasquez, of “A-A-R-P”, says that both senators have reaffirmed their commitment to lowering the cost of prescription-drugs… “We’re pleased that finding a solution to high drug-prices remains a priority for both of New Mexico’s senators. According to Senator Luján, it’s intolerable that one-in-three adults don’t take their medication because it’s too expensive; he also believes that Medicare must be allowed to directly negotiate for lower prices. Senator Heinrich agrees, saying that allowing Medicare to negotiate drug-prices is crucial to reining in unfair out-of-pocket costs; he adds that New Mexicans shouldn’t have to choose between medications and other necessities. For years, ‘A-A-R-P’ has called for fair drug-prices. We also support legislation that the House passed in November—which would allow Medicare to negotiate drug-prices, and would put a cap on out-of-pocket costs.” To learn more, visit “a-a-r-p”-dot-org-slash-“r-x”.
