ABC's of Financial Freedom, Week 1: Attitude

Message Title:  “Attitude”  Changing our attitude toward our finances begins by being honest with our financial picture. For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) 4 things we need in order to change our financial picture: Vision Where there is no vision, the people perish… Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint… Proverbs 29:18 (NIV) We loose vision when nearsighted desires become clearer than farsighted dreams. …Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. Habakkuk 2:2 (NKJV) Right Thinking Our financial problems begin and end with us. Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT) Our thoughts shape our reality. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2 (NLT) Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (NLT) Right Attitude toward God Our financial picture will never change until we surrender control to the LORDSHIP of Jesus.  We have to acknowledge the sovereignty of God in our finances. Then David praised the Lord in the presence of the whole assembly: “O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may you be praised forever and ever!  Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. 1 Chronicles 29:10-11 (NLT) Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.  Wealth and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength. 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 (NLT) “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name!  But who am I, and who are my people, that we could give anything to you? Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you first gave us! 1 Chronicles 29:13-14 (NLT) We have to recognize whatever we have is on temporary loan from God.  Possession does not mean ownership. Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2 (NLT) We have to get more of God’s wisdom and apply it to our finances. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
